SEXUAL HARASSMENT

SEXUAL HARASSMENT

Sexual harassment in the workplace can take many forms. Inappropriate comments about another person’s body, sexual life and experiences, gender or gender representation, or sexual orientation can be forms of sexual harassment. In some cases, the harassment can even progress to threats and sexual assault. This is simply unacceptable for any employee, and Harman Law, PLLC is relentlessly committed to protecting your right to a safe workplace.

Common Misconceptions
Misconceptions about sexual harassment in the workplace are often common. A primary misconception is that only women experience sexual harassment, which is not true. Men also experience sexual harassment in the workplace by perpetrators of both genders. Another misconception is that ignoring sexual harassment is the most effective way for a victim to get their harasser to stop. Unfortunately, harassers often continue to harass their victims until they are forced to stop.

Your Right to a Safe Workplace
In North Carolina, every person has the right to a safe workplace free of hostility and harassment. If you have been a victim of sexual harassment in your workplace, you have the right to take legal action to make it stop and hold the perpetrator accountable.

Sensitivity & Confidentiality
Sexual harassment cases are extremely sensitive, and it can be challenging to come forward with a claim. Our clients are often scared or ashamed. Harman Law, PLLC is dedicated to confidentially and compassionately guiding you through the necessary steps of taking legal action. We also recognize that many times the best outcome for victims is often to secure a favorable and confidential settlement with your employer outside of court. However, if your employer is unwilling to negotiate a resolution, a lawsuit may be required. Harman Law, PLLC is prepared to do what’s best for you, the client. We represent sexual harassment clients in court and arbitrations, and in front of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Taking Legal Action
When necessary, taking legal action can bring restitution and justice to an unfair situation. At Harman Law, PLLC, we will ensure that you fully understand all risks and benefits involved prior to taking action so that you can feel comfortable and confident with your decision to pursue litigation.
