It’s hard enough to imagine parents losing a child in a fatal car wreck. It’s unfathomable to think that they could lose twin boys in one crash. Sadly, this is what happened this week in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

The accident happened on US-74. Two cars were speeding down the road near Unionville and Indian Trail Road. The two cars collided at excessive rates of speed. This caused a car in the left-hand lane to try to avoid the crash. The car ended up crossing the median and driving into oncoming traffic. As soon as it did so, it was hit by a U-Haul truck.

The third car contained a pair of 16-year old twin boys. One was driving and the other was his passenger. As the victims were under 16, their names have not yet been released. Nor has the make and model of their car. One of the boys was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries the next morning.

The driver of the U-Haul was taken to the hospital but did not suffer any real injuries. His name hasn’t been released either. There is no information on the third car. The investigation is ongoing. So far, all they have confirmed is that both cars were speeding at the time of the collision. There have been no details about who was at fault for the crash. Nor have they mentioned if drugs or alcohol played a role.
